Rep. Filler testifies in the House Health Policy Committee Thursday on his HB 6355, which requires psychological evaluations in emergency rooms for mental health episodes to be completed within three hours by a preadmission screening unit. After three hours, a clinically qualified individual could perform the assessment. Rep. Filler says evaluations are usually conducted by local Community Mental Health professionals, but says patients can be served more quickly if other options can be used after three hours. The plan remains in committee.
